REQUIRED EQUIPMENT Preparing for a Remote Session

What You’ll Need

The equipment below is used for remote diagnostics, coding, programming and software updates for BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles. The equipment you need depends on your vehicle and the service you choose.

For a session using an ENET connection, prepare:

  • A laptop running Windows 10 or Windows 11, connected to its power adapter.

  • A stable internet connection for the laptop, for example via Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. Internet access must remain available while the laptop is connected to the vehicle.

  • A BMW ENET cable (OBD-II → Ethernet RJ45) to connect the vehicle to the laptop.

  • One suitable USB-C or USB-A → Ethernet adapter, if the laptop does not have a built-in RJ45 port.

  • A vehicle battery support power supply — for programming and updating control module software.

For programming, use a battery support power supply designed to maintain stable vehicle power while work is carried out on the control modules. The required specifications depend on the vehicle and the scope of work; these should be confirmed before the session.

BMW ENET Cable — OBD-II → Ethernet

An ENET cable connects the vehicle’s diagnostic socket to the Ethernet port on a laptop or network adapter. It is used to exchange data with the vehicle during a remote session.

Before buying, check that the cable is designed for BMW ENET connections and is suitable for your vehicle and the service you choose.PolandHow to Use the LinksClick Amazon or eBay and choose the store country. The Allegro button opens the Polish marketplace. The links open a search for the equipment you need; your country selection is saved separately for Amazon and eBay. When choosing a product, check its specifications, product and seller reviews, and delivery terms for your country. The selected country indicates the marketplace’s regional website, not where the item is shipped from.
